Job Description        

We have an exciting opportunity for a Digital Photographer to join our team. This position is based at our Support Centre, in Kuilsriver, Cape Town and will be part of a very diverse and vibrant Marketing Team. This position will report directly to the Advertising Specialist: Digital.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or 3 years of equivalent experience required
  • Professional Studio experience, 1+ year(s)
  • Proficient in standard photography software (Capture One Pro)

Knowledge, Skills and Experience 

  • To establish appropriate lighting to meet shot composition needs
  • Must have ability to shoot a variety of products
  • To ensure consistency across brand and style guidelines
  • The ability to work with creative agency and marketing team to create and develop ideas for ecommerce imagery
  • Must have ability to save and store files optimally (raw, edited, for web)
  • Meet deadlines and deliver on expectations
  • To manage inventory associated with photo-shoots (including the check in & tracking of product samples, etc.)
  • Keeping the photography studio neat and organized
  • Help define and maintain organization of digital asset management system

Experience required:

  • Must have proficiency in Adobe Photoshop (Pen & Liquefy tool) and Adobe Lightroom (File renaming, organization, color correction, exposure)
  • Must have experience in off-model photo shoots for apparel, footwear, accessories
  • Must have experience in high volume or production environment, 1+ year(s)
  • Must have strong understanding of lighting techniques and composition
  • Must have proficient with studio cameras and photo equipment
  • Must have ability to effectively communicate to Marketing/Creative team to assure successful outcome
  • Must have proficient time management – ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Must have ability to adapt to change and a willingness to learn
  • Must have positive Attitude and open to constructive feedback and suggestions
  • Must have ability to provide a current portfolio demonstrating studio work

Key Responsibilities 

  1. Digital Photographer
  • Photograph & correctly save (according to style guide/ specifications):
  • All product images for e-commerce
  • Flatpack and/ or lifestyle images for tactical social media posts, PR communications and ad hoc campaign requirement
  1. Reporting
  • To identify issues & propose opportunities to improve photography and/ or sample management process
  • To provide reporting line with updates on studio capacity
  • To recommend improvements or updates to photography methods and/ or equipment
  1. Management
  • Stakeholder management
  • To interact with the Marketing team
  • Relationship/ Stakeholder management with the SBU’s, agencies, suppliers & service providers
  • Briefing of external designers
  • Studio management
  • To manage studio bookings/ calendar for relevant photo shoots
  • To maintain the studio and keep it neat & organized
  • To maintain & update photographic equipment & software licensing
  • To manage all product samples, including checking-in & tracking to ensure all received, accounted for, photographed & returned
