Job Description

We have an opportunity for an experienced receptionist to join this up market 5 Star Boutique Hotel, located In Rosebank urgently.

Skills and Experience required for this position

  • Must have Matric certificate
  • Must have at least 3 years’ experience in the hospitality industry – reception / reservations
  • Must have previous experience from an upmarket establishment (luxury hotel or 5 star lodge)
  • Must have previous experience with Knightsbridge and Outlook
  • Must have excellent communication skills
  • Must be fluent in English
  • Must have additional languages knowledge
  • Must have attention to detail
  • Must be good under pressure and fast thinker
  • Must have ability to communicate well with guests
  • Must have a friendly and welcoming approach
  • Must have high standards of dress and presentation
  • Must have ability to remain calm during difficult situations or in a very busy environment
  • Must ensure that all reservations and cancellations are processed efficiently
  • Good administrative skills and the ability to use email and booking systems
  • Pleasant telephone manner

Responsibilities and Duties

  • To dealing with guests over the phone
  • Taking and inputting reservations
  • To negotiate rates in Guesthouse
  • To up sell, or offer a more expensive room to the Customer
  • To provide a friendly, welcoming and efficient service to all Guests
  • To undertake front of house duties, including meeting, greeting and attending to the needs of guest
  • Build a good rapport with all guests and resolve any complaints/issues quickly to maintain high quality customer service
  • Dealing with guest requests to ensure a comfortable and pleasant stay
  • Assisting in dealing with customer complaints in an effective and courteous manner, providing or seeking solutions as quickly as possible.
  • Responsible for accurate and efficient accounts and guest billing processes
  • Undertaking general office duties, including correspondence, emails, filing and switchboard, to ensure the smooth running of the reception area.
  • Ensuring that all reservations and cancellations are processed efficiently
  • Keeping up to date with room prices and special offers to provide accurate information to guests
  • Reporting any maintenance, breakage or cleanliness problems to the relevant manager
  • Adhering to all fire safety test procedures and to assist in the evacuation process in the event of fire
