Vacancy Details

Bergvliet High School (BHS) is searching for a dynamic, energetic and visionary leader to lead the School in the next exciting phase in the development of the school. The successful candidate must have the ability to motivate and lead the school in a manner which builds on its proud tradition of academic, cultural and holistic development of its learners.  The post will be vacant from 1 March 2023 and the commencement date shall be determined by the Western Cape Education Department (WCED).

Candidate Requirements

  • In addition to the requirements set out in the Personnel Administrative measures (PAM) document 1999, applicants are sought with the following skills, qualities, and experience:
  • The successful candidate must meet the following criteria:
  • Minimum Educational qualification for the Senior Phase and FET (REQV13)
  • Be registered with SACE
  • A minimum of 7 years teaching experience, of which 3 years must have formed part of the Senior Management team and 4 years should have been in the role of Deputy Principal or Principal
  • In-depth knowledge of the Grade 8 to Grade 12 curriculum
  • Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of the key legislative frameworks required when managing a school, inclusive of those regulating professional bodies, unions and the education department.
  • Excellent verbal and written English proficiency. Proficiency in Afrikaans or isiXhosa would be advantageous.
  • Professional track record of excellence, both personally and professionally.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in the use of Information Computer Technology and Programmes, especially systems used by WCED, finance packages and cloud computing. Ability to analyse and use data resulting from various programmes in the management and development of the school.
  • Must complete and pass a Competency Assessment prior to appointment
  • The successful candidate must possess and be able to demonstrate the skills outlined in the Vacancy as advertised on the School’s website: bhs.org.za.
